“There Will Be No Winter” is not just an ordinary story – it is a magical journey through Soviet Russia in 1937.

What is it about?
We follow a little girl, Fro, who is searching for her father in a vast, snowy world. But this is no ordinary historical story: there is magic here, ghosts roam, and Froja’s dog Zhuk – talks!

The journey from sketch to book:
2019: It all started in Egor Balalin’s notebook.
2020: Ivan Sergeev turns the idea into a beautiful comic without text.
2024–2025: Famous writer Nina Dashevska brings the sketches to life with words and gives the story its final shape.

International success:
Ilustrofest 2025 (Serbia): The project won the prestigious Grand Prix!
Cheltenham, UK (2026): Illustrations were shortlisted for global awards and featured in a major exhibition.
The works also became part of the annual album of postcards @pittvillepress.
